The first real magnet on the coast south of Mombasa is Tiwi Beach, which lies a couple of kilometres to the east of the main road. Tiwi rates as genuine tropical paradise material and attracts primarily of Kenyan resident families. The reef lies just offshore, and there are good snorkelling opportunities at high tide, especially at the northern end. Tiwi is still cottage territory. Though it is beautifully sleepy, it is only 25 minutes drive from the vibrant Diani, which is full of modern conveniences like banks, supermarket, gift shops, spas, restaurants, cafes and a lively nightlife for those interested. There are also excellent activities such as SUP, kite surfing, wind surfing, hobby cats, deep sea diving, boat trips, snorkelling, deep sea fishing or onto land which includes sky diving, golf, nature walks, fascinating cultural visits and a snake park.
